Deep inside Dr. Evil's secret volcano lair...

DR. EVIL: Are the preparations complete, Number 2?

Image

NUMBER 2: Yes, Dr. Evil. The robot submarine has been completed as requested and is completely and fully automated.

DR. EVIL: Excellent, Number 2. And you have recalled all my hired assassins as ordered?

NUMBER 2: Well, we have contacted them all, most have responded but we are having trouble with a few but I expect they will be present for the submarine's maiden voyage.

DR. EVIL: See that they are, Number 2, see that they are for this submarine's voyage shall be certain "Doom" for the world. Mwahh ha ha ha, Mwahh ha ha ha ha, Mwahh ha ha ha ha ha, Mwahh ha ha ha, Mwahh ha ha ha, Mwahh ha ha, Mwahh ha ... cough, cough, cough, cough ... Ok ...

Interested? I am planning to start this game after the end of Stessier's Wheel of Time Game.

Austin Powers and the Submarine of Doom

You have been invited to join Dr. Evil aboard his robot submarine "Doom". As part of the invitation, Dr. Evil has ordered you all to come in disguise as part of standard evil security. You are aware Dr. Evil plans to make an ultimatum to the President of the United States at the White House however you do not know the circumstance of that ultimatum.

It has been 3 weeks since you came aboard the robot submarine and you are aware that only the people aboard are ??? henchmen (including yourself), Dr. Evil, Scott Evil, and Number Two. However, Scott has spent most of his time sulking in his cabin and Dr. Evil, and Number Two have been locked in Dr. Evil's private suite preparing his ultimatum.

Game Rules:

Each player is secretly assigned a role. There is also a Moderator player who controls the flow of the game.

The game alternates between night and day phases starting with Sunday Night. At night, the Agents of England's Ministry of Defense secretly choose a Henchman to attack and the special Henchman may use their powers.

During the day, the Henchman who was killed at night is revealed and is out of the game. The remaining Henchmen then vote on the player they suspect is a Agent of England's Ministry of Defense. Once a majority is reached, that player is executed and they are out of the game.

How you win the game?

Agents of England's Ministry of Defense win when there are an equal number of Agents and Henchman.

Evil Henchman in Dr. Evil's employ win when they have killed all Agents.

======================

Example of Game Phases

Night Phase:

1. Everyone may choose a Station to visit each night. The moderator receives and processes all the Station orders. Station orders take precedence over all special power orders. However, no one may visit the same Station on back to back nights.

2. Fat Bastard chooses who he will visit that night and protect. The moderator will contact that person and they and Fat Bastard my exchange PMs until the moderator informs them that must stop. Fat Bastard must choose a new person to protect/visit each night. Once Fat Bastard has visited every person alive once, he can then visit every one a 2nd time until he has visited every person alive twice, and so forth. Fat Bastard may not protect himself.

3. Each night, Frau Farbissina can use Dr. Evil's password she stole from him to access the robot submarine's main computer and learn the true identity of one of the henchmen. However, the main computer has been instructed to reveal only one henchman's alignment (Agent or Henchman) per night.

4. The lead Agent picks who will be the target of the night's attack. If the target of the night kill is an unpowered Henchman, Austin Powers may choose (just once) to use his Mojo to convert that target rather than kill. The target assumes the role of Felicity Shagwell (which otherwise goes unfilled).

5. Random Task may kill someone with his shoe (one time only).

6. Agents of England's Ministry of Defense may communicate on their special forum.

7. If someone is killed at night, the Main Computer will inform Dr. Evil who will announce it at the beginning of the Day Phase.

Day Phase:

1. Everyone votes for someone to be killed. Once a majority of votes for a person has been reached, that person is dead and may no longer post on the board.

2. Agents of England's Ministry of Defense may communicate on their special forum.

3. Random Task may kill someone with his shoe (one time only).

4. If someone is killed/executed during the day, the Main Computer will inform Dr. Evil who will announce it at the beginning of the Night Phase.

Then the night phase begins and so forth.

======================

Night Order Deadlines:

Henchmen will have a 25 hour deadline to get their orders in from when Night begins. This is a hard deadline.

=====================

Station Rules:

Each night, all henchmen may choose to leave their cabins and visit a Station. There are a total of 36 Stations scattered throughout the robot submarine that can be accessed by the Henchman. Henchmen may NOT visit the same Station on back to back nights.

Henchmen may communicate their station choice by sending a private message (PM) to the WWMod. (Example: I wish to visit Station #.)

Most of the Stations control unimportant systems throughout the robot submarine which will have no effect on the game, however, there are Six Super Stations which do have effects on the game. The Six are:

Security - The first henchman to access this station may choose to use the main computer to learn the true identities of all individuals who visited another station that night. The henchman will be asked the number of the station they wish to scan. (Example: I wish to scan Station #.)

Life Support - The first henchman who accesses this station may choose to use the ship's life support to release sleeping gas into a selected cabin deck. All individuals on that cabin deck will be knocked out until morning and may not use any special powers, visit a station, or communicate in the main game thread or any secret game threads. The henchman may gas themselves and will be treated like they were in their own cabin for the event.

Communication - The first henchman who accesses this station will be provided with by an invisible bluetooth ear piece by the main computer and choose to secretly communicate any other person of his choice. From the notification until 24 hours real time both of these individuals will be able to secretly exchange PMs. After 24 hours, the ear pieces will silently self-destruct and the moderator will inform them the may no longer exchange PMs. The moderator will inform the players when the may no longer PM each other.

Sickbay - (One Time Event) The first henchman to access this station terminal will be killed by Sickbay as its computer was last used to torture a secret agent and has not yet been reset by Dr. Evil.
(One Time Event) If Mustafa accesses the sickbay terminal regardless of who first accesses the Sickbay that night, he may just once revive an individual he thought was dead. After that the Main Computer shuts down access to the Sickbay station completely and other agents visiting later will not be killed.

Access Log - The first henchman to visit this station will be provided with a list of all henchmen who visited stations that night only and what stations they visited.

The Vongooglizer - This is a secret weapon Dr. Evil bought for a discount from the North Koreans. Dr. Evil isn't quite sure what it does, however. If anyone accesses this Station, it will be activated (One Time Event)!

It is possible that more than one Henchman may choose to visit the same Station. Henchmen will not be informed who (if anyone) visited the same station as they did that night.

If muliple henchmen choose the same Super Station, the moderator will determine using random.org who visited the station first. That henchman will get to use the power of that station for the night. All other henchmen will find that the station is in recharge mode and can not be used, however, they will learn which Super Station it is.

Station Orders Effects Precedence:

1. Number Three locks down a single station. That station will simply show as locked down and unusable however those who visit it will know what station it is.

2. A Henchman activates The Vongooglizer. This effect is secret.

3. A Henchman activates the Life Support station. The Henchman may gas a deck with the Life Support station preventing those affected from doing anything.

4. All other station visited not affected by the above are resolved and reported.

======================

Sleeping Cabin Assignments

Per Dr. Evil's orders, henchmen will be randomly assigned sleeping cabins on different decks. There are five sleeping cabin decks. If the life support station is activated, then the user selects a deck and all henchmen on that deck will not be able to visit any station that night, perform any special power orders that night, or communicate in the main forum thread or any secret forum.

--FAQ--

Question: Can I send in an order and then change my order later?
Answer: Yes, you can change your order as many times as you like. Once the deadline is reached, I will take the last order I received from you and will not accept a new order.

Question: Can more than one person visit a station on the same night?
Answer: Yes. However, henchmen will not learn if anyone else visiting the station that night.

Question: Can the Henchman at the Security terminal use the Station name (e.g. Communication, Sickbay, etc.) for scanning, or only the Station number (e.g. Station #5)?
Answer: The henchmen may only select a station by the station number. (Example: I choose to scan Station #?)

Question: Is the station lock down by name, or number, or either?
Answer: The Mole must lock down a station by giving the number of station. (Example: I choose to lock down Station #?)

Question: How do the henchmen choose to visit a station each night?
Answer: The henchmen should send a private message (PM) to the Mod with the number of the station they wish to visit. (Example: I want to visit Station #?)

Question:What's the point of sleeping deck organization? Does this play any part in the game?
Answer: Yes, it specifically relates to the Life Support station.

Question:I don't have to visit to a station every night, do I?
Answer: No, you can choose to stay in your cabin.

Question: Is Fat Bastard informed of successful protection?
Answer: Yes, Fat Bastard is informed if he has made a successful protection. He will know that his horrible Body Odor scared the attacker away. He will not know the identity of the attacker.

Question: Will we know if there's a conversion?
Answer: The Mod will not announce if a conversion has taken place.

Question: Can the Mole communicate with Austin at any time (or at specific day/night cycle) ? Or is the Mole only allowed to know who Austin is and he pretty much has to work on his own.
Answer: The mole can not send private messages (PMs) to anyone unless he uses the communication station or is contacted by Fat Bastard. The Mole is informed at the start of the game who Austin Powers is.

Question: If Austin Powers is put to sleep will there be a kill that night?
Answer: As long as one Agent is not incapaciated (gassed) then the Agents may attack someone that night.

Question: Can Fat Bastard protect someone if he visits a station?
Answer: Fat Bastard's power of protection is completely separate to his visit to a station that night. Station visits are resolved BEFORE special powers of the players are used.

Question: Number Three has the one-time ability to cast a secret second vote via PM to the Moderator. Does this mean he can cast a vote for someone and the second secret one for a different person? Or even not vote and cast a second secret vote?
Answer: Yes and Yes. The secret vote can be used at anytime during the day. The player can vote for one person and then submit a secret vote for anyone else. I will record to vote but I will not notify who made the vote. Once the player makes his secret vote, he may not withdrawal it or use it again. It is a one time event.

Question:Will you have a map of the Stations???
Answer:No, you can visit any Station by simply informing the Moderator which one you would like to visit. However, you can not visit the same Station on back to back nights.

The Game Roles

Agents of England's Ministry of Defense

Austin Powers
The ultimate gentleman spy Austin Powers, also known as Sir Austin Danger Powers, works as a secret agent for England's Ministry of Defense.
Image
(1) Austin Powers always learns the true identity (role) of anyone who dies. The Agents do not receive the results of Mustafa's autopsy report.
(2) Each night, the lead agent choose who that night's assassination target will be.
(3) If the target of the that night's assassination is an unpowered Henchman the moderator will inform Austin Power of this and he may choose (just once) to use his Mojo to convert that target rather than kill them. The target assumes the role of Felicity Shagwell (which otherwise goes unfilled).
(4) Austin Powers may PM Vanessa Kensington at any time. If there's a Felicity Shagwell, Austin Powers may PM Felicity Shagwell at any time.
(5) Austin Powers starts as the lead agent.

Vanessa Kensington
Vanessa Kensington a secret agent for England's Ministry of Defense and accompanies Austin Powers on his missions but is also a fembot.
Image
(1) If attacked, Vanessa Kensington will malfunction and explode killing one Henchman of her choice. This maneuver can only be prevented by Random Task attacking Vanessa Kensington with his shoe and disabling her motivation circuit which kills her.
(2) Vanessa Kensington may PM Austin Powers at any time. If there's a Felicity Shagwell, Vanessa Kensington may PM Felicity Shagwell at any time.
(3) Vanessa Kensington is the 2nd agent in command and chooses who that night's assassination target if Austin Powers is dead.

Felicity Shagwell
Felicity Shagwell is a CIA agent captured and brainwashed by Dr. Evil to work for him. However, Felicity Shagwell is suspectable to Austin's Powers Mojo and will be persuaded to change sides.
Image
(1) Once converted, she may PM Austin Powers and Vanessa Kensington at any time, and vice versa.
(2) Felicity Shagwell is the 3rd agent in command and chooses who that night's assassination target if Austin Powers and Felicity Shagwell is dead.
(3) Once per night, Felicity can use her access codes to query the Main Computer to learn the role of any henchman who has died.

Number Three (Mole)
You are one of Doctor Evil's henchmen but are also a double agent for England's Ministry of Defense and therefore work to protect their agents.
Image
(1) Each night, Number Three may lock down a single station (but not the same station twice in a row).
(2) Number Three knows the identity of Austin Powers from the beginning of the game.
(3) Number Three has the one-time ability to cast a secret second vote via PM to the Moderator.
(4) Number Three wins if the Agents of England's Ministry of Defense win, however, he counts for Dr. Evil side as he does not want his cover blown.

Evil Henchman in Dr. Evil's employ

Mustafa
Mustafa is a technical genius and was responsible for designing Dr. Evil's robot submarine, however, Dr. Evil does not trust him and has removed Mustafa's administrator access to the submarines computer system. However, Mustafa still has some access to one of the the submarines non-critical systems.
Image
(1) If Mustafa visits the Medical Station, he will have a one-time opportunity to revive anyone he thought was dead. When Mustafa visits the Medical Station he will automatically access it first.
(2) Mustafa has the one-time ability to cast a secret second vote via PM to the Moderator.
(3) Mustafa has created a portable fembot scanner/programmer. Each night Mustafa may scan a henchmen to see if they are Vanessa Kensington/fembot. Vanessa Kensington will not be aware of being scanned by Mustafa.
(4) Mustafa can use his limited access to unlock the computer's autopsy report. Therefore, if Mustafa is alive, he will receive a autopsy report of the last henchmen killed by the agents reporting the henchman's role (Austin Powers, Random Task, etc) and may choose to send the autopsy report secretly to one other henchman. The henchmen will not be informed who sent the autopsy report to them. Mustafa must choose who he sends the autopsy report to before he himself receives it.

Random Task
Random Task is a silent assassin who's special ability is to kill a fly at 20 meters with his shoe. However, this special ability was not found practical in most of the world's secret agencies and therefore found his way to working for Dr. Evil.
Image
(1) Once during the game, day or night, Random Task may kill another player with his shoe killing them.
(2) If Random Task attacks Vanessa Kensington with his shoe, Random Task's shoe will destroy the Vanessa Kensington/fembot's motivator killing her and preventing her from exploding and killing someone else.

Frau Farbissina
Frau Farbissina is in many ways Dr. Evil's 2nd in command, however due to a power struggle with Number Two as well as the embarrassment over Scott Evil, Dr. Evil no longer trusts her.
Image
(1) Each night, Frau Farbissina can use Dr. Evil's password she stole from him to access the robot submarine's main computer and learn the alignment of one of the henchmen. However, the main computer has been instructed to reveal only one players's alignment (Agent or Henchman) per night.

Fat Bastard
Fat Bastard is a morbidly obese henchman hailing from Scotland and serves Dr. Evil in his quest to defeat Austin Powers.
Image
(1) Every night, Fat Bastard can choose to protect one Henchman by visting them and tell them disgusting stories, farting alot, etc... All this noise scares any potential assassin away.
(2) Since everyone hates him, whoever Fat Bastard has decided to visit will be given a great deal of privacy, therefore, Fat Bastard and the person he is visiting can PM for 24 hours (real time) from notification from the moderator (players will be informed by the moderator when they can PM and when PMs must end). This may slide into the next day.
(3) Fat Bastard can not protect/visit the same person and therefore if he chooses to protect someone they must be a new person each night. Once Fat Bastard has visited every person alive once, he can then visit every one a 2nd time until he has visited every person alive twice, and so forth.
(4) Fat Bastard can not protect himself.
(5) Fat Bastard does not have to protect anyone and can choose to stay in his cabin for the night.

Evil Henchman
You are Dr. Evil's rank and file henchmen. You work tirelessly to serve Dr. Evil in his goal to rule the world and defeat Austin Powers. However, the fact that Dr. Evil invited you in disguise aboard his robot submarine makes you think he has plans for you if you can just impress him and then move up in his evil secret organization.
Image
You have no special powers but you can vote for who you think the secret agents are and you can also access the Submarine Stations.

Ok, the draft rules are up. Please let me know what you think. I borrowed heavily from Grund's Lost game (this is a good thing) so please take a look and provide comments.

Also, if you want to sign up, just post an IN message. Obviously we have plenty of time as this will follow Stessier's Wheel of Time game if thats okay with everyone.

No map. When you want to hit a station each night, you simply select the number of the station you want to go to.

Austin Powers always learns the role of anyone who dies.

If Mustafa is alive, only Dr. Evil's henchmen learn the alignment of the person that dies.

I suspose I could add a backup for learning the alignment of the lynch. Let me think about how to work it.

Consider me out if this is a blind lynch game, this includes games where it becomes possible the lynch is blind. I will not play in those anymore. Yes, it adds another easy special into the mix for the bad guys to target but once the lynches become blind it removes the normal folks from the game for the most part since they have nothing to build or test their theories with. The game is about information and the only information the normals get that they can really work with is the outcome of their lynch votes. Other than that they are placed at the mercy of the specials.

I didn't realize this was an important issues.

I could amend the rulez so that the alignment of all players is always revealed by the main computer but Mustafa and Austin are necessary to find out that player's specific role.

How does everyone feel about that?

Works for me but if others want to have the blind lynches that is o.k. too. I do not mind sitting a game here or there. I was not trying to blackmail you into changing your game with my "out". Sorry if it felt that way.

I like the idea of the bad guys needing to take out more then one person to make it a blind lynch. That would make things harder for the bad guys to accomplish

Thats okay, Remus. I think maybe we all need a break from the blind lynch games anyway.

The main computer will always report the alignment of all deaths but not roles. The specials are the only ones who can find that info out.

So just making sure, Dr. Evil are the 'good guys' and Austin power and the rest of good guys are 'bad guys'?

All depends on your point of view.

Note to all: I need 15 players to make this rulez set work. Therefore, I won't start the game until I reach 15. If we can't get there, I will pair down the rulez a bit to match what we have. However, I think we will reach 15 but I think a small break of a week or so would be in order after Stessier's Wheel of Time game.

Just so you know, if I play it's going to confuse the hell out of me.

Do you really think the rulez are that complex? I am using elements from other games. Nothing is really NEW. Also, if you are still reading the Wheel of Time thread, I have a plan to keep the game moving during nights (deadlines). Its your call but since there are never any blind lynches I think this game won't be nearly as confusing as you think.

No I mean when people start speculating about who Austin is. I'll see my name and have to reread see if they mean me or the character. Probably happen to others too. :P
