Smooth ... for most of you. My bench got auto-drafted after a browser crash and I wind up with Mathieu Carle, who got carted off the ice tonight.

Ah, well, I got mostly good stuff while I was there.

I didn't realize that this was a daily maintenance kinda thing! This ought to be fun to keep up with.

I wouldn't necessarily say Daily. The trick is managing the number of games you have at each position. Some folks tend to "overplay" and windup not being able to do anything at the end of the season, because they've already used all their RW, LW, F, W, and Util games. D and G are the ones that usually wind up with a few games left over.

Just look at your roster, compare it the NHL schedule, and adjust accordingly. You can usually do just fine adjusting the roster about 2 or 3 times a week. Just make sure you set your roster prior to weekends since most teams play every Saturday. The other really big day to make sure rosters are set is Tuesdays. The rest of the time, the schedule varies alot.

As to trades - who got Hartnell? How about Ryan Malone from Tampa Bay for him? :)

Argh, no idea who I got since I can't get the site to load. I put together a rough list, but I have hardly followed the preseason outside of the some of the Avalanche stuff, so I was pretty lost.

I might be open to trading, after I see who i got.

anyway for an outsider to follow your league? I've never done fantasy hockey and would be interested to see how it works.

Well Semaj's new Fantasy Hockey Team, "Beers and Bodychecks" needs a few fans...

Queue Movie Trailer Music and the voice of that guy who died recently: "Semaj has very little knowledge of hockey, short of what he read in the 20 minutes before a Fantasy Hockey Draft draft... He was not known for much and was looking for a way to make a mark on society. So watch as he somehow finds a way to take his slapstick comedy skills and turn an one ice product from the bad news bears into winners...."

You can watch it all unfold... As I will probably give weekly updates about how godawful I am doing...

I have no idea how to let someone whose not in the league, view the league. It's one of the problems with Yahoo!

I'll try to get something set up so those who want to follow along can. A draft spreadsheet will go up sometime this weekend showing how our draft went.

And the 5th pick was Henrik Zetterberg. :)

Here is an Excel file of the 2008 OO FHL Draft for those wanting to see how are league shaped up. Right now it's download only until I get a web page setup - which will take a bit longer :).

There's a limit to how many games each slot can play?

Guess not. I didn't turn on "Maximum games played" It's currently set to "no maximum" which means everyone can play all the time so it will require more day-to-day management than the leagues with games played limits.

Most leagues only allow 82 games to be played so you get each position for 164 games, except D which gets 328.

Open discussion if we want to change it. Doesn't matter to me either way.

Euh no, no limit please. Never have had them, don't want them. And you don't need day to day. You can set for the week and forget it or micromanage as much as you want.

Hadn't looked at the trade proposal, yet, but I will look tonight.

Looks like a fair trade to me.

If anyone has Michel Ouellet, they might want to find someone else. The Lightning sent him to Norfolk.

I could use a RW, but there isn't a trade that works based on my roster and it would leave you short at RW. I'm way overloaded for centers with 7 of them.

Guys I apologize.. With the new job, new baby coming and me just not having the time to read up on what the heck I am doing in this pool; I've been a little disconnected from the league.

If nothing else, I am solidly keeping last place warm so nobody else will loose! I just didn't want you to think I had pulled a shitty move.. Real life is just kicking my butt right now.

EDIT: Uhh.. I just checked and I am in 2nd place? Perhaps ignoring all of my fantasy leagues/pools should be my new plan.. :horse:

There are reasons you are doing so well without having to worry about your roster too much.

1) The Sharks went on a tear to start the season, and even though Thornton isn't scoring goals he is getting assists and your other two Sharks have been leading the charge.

2) Hossa, Semin and the Nashville D players are all leading or in 2nd for their respective teams in points at their respective positions. I'm surprised Semin is producing so well for the Caps.

3) Good goaltending even with Vokoun and Giguere being .500. They have excellent save percentages and each has a shutout. Shutouts are one goaltending stat that's hit or miss every year - with the exceptions of Brodeur and Nabokov who always seem to be in the top 5 in shutouts.

If San Jose cools off, then you might start slipping in the standings, but that's doubtful considering how many other top guys you managed to draft.

if any of my players played to their expected this season I could give you a go....

but Kovalchuk seems to have died, Stafford and Roy cant pay for points, I wont even talk about Shneider, Campbell, Jovanoski, Nabkov or Sedin....

I played Biron over Nabkov yesterday and it was the right choice....

If it wasnt for Lundkvist, Perry, Erhoff and Parise, I'd be in last place...

I am doing shit and getting worse. I have a really weak goalie combo that doesn't help but my players just aren't doing well. Crosby getting hurt is going to kill me.
