The Thing Redux (discussion thread)
Flavor text to be written when game actually starts.
Original rules in short form:
1) Everyone is a scientist
2) One of you is a Thing who can infect one other player each night. No matter how many Things, there will only be one infection each night. When more than one Thing exists, they work together to decide whom to infect.
3) Scientists have serum for testing for Thing. They get two tests per day. If the 2nd test comes back Thing, they get to test again. And can keep testing as long as each subsequent test comes back Thing.
4) Discovered Things are killed and out of the game.
5) Undiscovered Things are still hiding amongst the scientists and still get to vote on whom to test
6) Accidentally tested humans do not die, they remain the game.
7) If you are converted to a Thing, you are informed via Pm that this has occured, but NOT who your fellow Things are until you meet them the following night! You are expected to play the new role of Thing fully to the best of your ability.
8) No PMs are allowed between anyone except between the Things at night only, and the Things with me (to communicate the transformation, obviously).
9) There is no Seer or any other equivalent roles. Just scientists and an ever increasing number of Things. Unless you test the right people, of course.
10) Max participants will be 12. Game will start with just a single Thing all on his lonesome to start. We start with a Day phase, so if you get lucky you'll win in a single round!
11) The Things win whenever the number of things is equal to the number of Scientists, just as in regular Werewolf. The Scientists have to eliminate all the Things.
Open for suggestions, although it seems like this would be fun and simple to run with just the lesser number of participants and same rules.

2) Chaosraven
3) mipe

I'm liking this game already! You can be as annoying as you want to be, but only way to die is if you are baddie and get 'lynched'!

Re: The Thing Redux (discussion thread)
lol, no I do not want to play. I played 1 version of the Thing.
I dislike all conversion formats.
I dislike larger than 2 teams: 2.5 teams where .5 team can win if the superset is neutered with a wiffle bat..
I can tolerate ONE conversion.
I know enough to know that the "perma conversion" mechanic destroys any coherence to detective work in a game wherein there are no visual cues. If you read the original thread you would notice, I gave up and simply started fuckin around for 2 months. yes TWO MONTHS. and ya'll bitch that current games move slow....

Re: The Thing Redux (discussion thread)
The game moving slow is the reason for the reduced participants - as originally discussed when the prior one ended.
The gripe in the currently active game (INFECTED!) has been general slowness of responses from one or two individuals (which got 2 of them killed) along with the mod (at least the mod has explained why on his part).
