[Hmmm] Surprising finds at thrift stores...

Post by Kasey Chang »

Was in a Goodwill Thrift store and found a package of the ORIGINAL F-15 Strike Eagle (the CGA version), and a 4-CD jewelcase of the Sierra Pinball Collection (with a copy of "The Incredible Machine" thrown in). Bought both.

What's really sad is there's a full package of Flight Unlimited III, CD's, manuals, everything... Except someone already stole the CD's. :P

Stealing from a regular store I can sorta understand, but stealing item from a THRIFT store with items priced less than $10?

I was in a Shopko recently when looking for WoW during the shortage...

They had a regular aisle of games, and half of them were laying on the bottom of the display cracked open with the discs missing from the inside. At least 3/4 of the PC game boxes were crushed, torn open, or had the box top open and the cellophane cut and the discs stolen from inside.

I actually asked the cashier about it that was in the electronics department next to the aisle, and he just shrugged and said "nobody ever buys that stuff anymore anyway, I don't know why they keep it on the shelf." That probably explained why half of the opened boxes, with their contents stolen, had been clearance marked with big orange stickers as if someone wanted to buy the empty boxes.

My son and I got the hell out of there before we were accused of lifting something :p I've never seen anything like it in my life.

Also keep an eye out for cool boardgames. There are some real gems out there in the thrift world. Even more out there stuff you might not expect.
