SH3 cracked!

Pirates 1, Starforce 0

There's a nocd out, so for everyone who refuses to allow starforce on their machines, it looks like we can finally enjoy the best sub sim ever made!

And there was much rejoicing and reminders of how horrible starforce is when it doesn't even manage to do its job protecting the game from pirates!

Rumor has it if you patch, it uncracks the game and your screwed. Not sure i'd wave the flag of victory around yet.

Also, i'm taking bets it wasn't cracked, that one of the devs leaked out a preview or final builds version without SF that caused this. Otherwise, we'd see all SF games cracked suddenly, and we don't... WTF is Soldiers, Chaos League and GTR?

Soldiers hasn't been cracked yet? Interesting. I thought it was.

I generally thought Starforce prevented cracking by a week, compared to a few minutes for the other guys.

Having the "uncrackable" rep is going to be a blessing and a curse.

It's that way with any game patch. The secret it to wait until the new crack comes out. Of course, the more popular the game the quicker the no-cd crack tends to come out.

Every Starforce game has been cracked. It took a long time for the first few games, but pirates have become comfortable with defeating Starforce, and now it's taking less and less time.

In short,

Owned? Hardly.. I buy all my games, i'm not a pimple faced 17 year old living in my parents basement getting jollies off burning games. But I do feel for developers that often work 18 hour days on these games, they are the ones that get screwed.. I've seen how a leak, or a crack can ruin dreams for some of them.

Is it really his wrong? Does wrong really belong to anybody in particular?

Oh, you probably meant you're wrong. But even if you knew your grammar from a hole in the ground, you didn't prove shit with your post, aside from the fact that you're (notice proper usage) a name-caller.

So where is this famous no-cd? It's not at CGW, I just looked. Has anyone on this forum actually tested it to see if they can run their legally bought copy without the CD or DVD in the drive?

Forgive me for trying to use some logic to reply to a FFG909 post, but I have to ask you straight up, what's your purpose in responding to every single post where starforce or a game that uses starforce is mentioned?

I don't know if you were aware of GG back in the day, but generally the people who flocked here after it's demise aren't your typical hacker crowd.

Not to say that there aren't hackers here, but the general mood of the boards are against hackers. Pimply faced 17 year olds, yes probably quite a few of them here, I think I saw pictures of Kelric back in the day..., but anyways, most of the people who post buy their games.

You mentioned before that you don't work for the company that produces Starforce, that's great, but why do you insist on preaching about it's merits to a crowd of gamers who purchase their games and are merely looking for a way to enjoy them without having a utility muck up their system? If your looking to convert the masses away from pirating, I suggest you try other boards where the "sinners" are more plentiful.

You've mentioned before that you enjoy seeing other people get aggravated, and if that the reason for all your post, then I go ahead and call folly on me for taking the time to respond. It'd actually be a more sophisticated form of trolling than the occasional racist, DS, DS hater, female impersonator, rabid fanyboy troll that we are used to seeing around these parts.

I didnt see it at megagames either, but Im sure it'll be there soon(i dont have the first clue where to look for the 'true' hacked stuff).

That said, since I own the game Im not even going to try a no-cd crack. Ive always found that keeping up with the latest version of a no-cd crack is more of a PITA than just putting my cd in the drive.

Because Starforce saved my grandmothers life last year. She was crossing a busy street, and her walker got stuck in the drain. A truck was rapidly approaching, things were looking bad! Suddenly, out of nowhere, Starforce showed up and pushed her to the safety of the sidewalk.

There needs to be a balance to the few loudmouthed "OMFG STARFORCE RUINZED MY LIFEZOOZORE" crap permeating these forums to no end (and based on my PM's, alot of people are tired of the anti-starforce fanboys). I mean get over it, move on, stop whining.. I've been here like a week or two and its already old as hell - the same old drumbeat from the same couple people.

no, you get your jollies off of pretending to be morally superior to people you image as pimply faced 17 year-olds, but are actually working slobs who bought the game with their own hard earned money.
In short, your wrong.

Yes, there is a crack...and YES it works and works well. I have it installed now on my legit copy.

I havent seen it on GCW, but it takes them a bit to post new cracks. However, it is readily available on the various Bit Torrent sites.

Starforce does more to inconvenience legit owners of games than it does to inconvenience pirates. I am sorry but that is a pure indisputable fact!

Have you stopped to consider that your own posts are most of the reason for all the recent discussion about Starforce? You insist on jumping into EVERY thread where Starforce is mentioned to champion it, and in the process insulting everyone on the incorrect assumptions that everyone is either a) computer illiterate and therefore cannot tell whether or not Starforce has affected their system, b) a kiddie haxXxor who only wants to pirate games from their parent's basement, or c) some weird mutant combination of a) and b).

But then, you seem intent mostly on trolling anyway, so I suppose you don't stop consider much beyond finding ways to be generally annoying and inflammatory.

I'm sorry, but as constant as FFG909 is in his pro-Starforce posts, I've got to say the anti-Starforce posts from some posters are just as constant and annoying. If you think he's a troll, then don't feed him.

I think we all know that Starforce is an intrusive copy protection scheme and it has royally hosed some systems, but at the same time I don't need to be reminded in every Silent Hunter 3 (or other Starforce protected game) thread that:
a) The game has Starforce
b) Starforce sucks
c) You won't buy a Starforce game

SH3 threads are becoming like first impression threads, you skip to page two to weed out all the useless posts. I hate Starforce more for derailing so many gaming threads then for what it’s done to my system.

I mean this in the nicest way, but I really wish *both* sides would just shut up already. I’ll make up my own mind about Starforce. I’d much rather hear about the game then its protection scheme.

Well there is a SH3 thread that asked for no starforce talk. And us anti-starforce jerks were kind enogh to stay out of. :) Wish FF would do the same. :)

I think if someone would start a game thread with a *no starforce talk plz* in the header people would comply.

Just my opinion but I do think as long as SF is around there will be people complaining about it.

As far a SH3 goes. Now that it's been cracked I think I will buy it! Weird state of affairs when the pirates are responsible for a company getting money from me. Strange days these are...

Indeed.

I've been saying all along that "pirating" may be doing something worthwhile afterall, but most just aren't seeing it.

Wouldn't that be nice. But then, who would sing the praises of Starforce, and tell us about the awesome! new games coming (that ironically, have starforce) and about the games he thinks stink (which, whaddyaknow, don't include starforce)

When I think of FFG, I'm just that much more giddy that SH3 was cracked today. I had a laugh out loud moment when I saw the game reported on Nforce.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Hats off to Reloaded for letting those of you interested in SH3 be able to play without a freakin' virus attached to it.

That seems a little harsh, though he can be annoying. At least he's an adult, dedicated PC gamer who knows his hobby's history and has decent taste in games. And he's funny as often as he is annoying. He's just arrived with his dick swinging like many of us do. I just wish he could present his opinions without insulting others, plus I could do without his rabid anti-console bias.

Hopefully he'll get to know us as individuals a bit better instead of adversaries and dial it down a notch. Or maybe he'll dial it up and get banned. Should be interesting either way.

FFG: please note: being here a few weeks hardly makes you a veteran.

I think DCL's "No Starforce plz" thread title suggestion is an easy, logical solution to help alleviate the problems caused by people who can't just give their opinions about Starforce but have to bicker about Starforce.

Ya for the most part if people ask for something like that in the title it usually works. Well unless it has to do with women getting naked then all bets are off. I secretly think I hold some awsome power that silenced the masses though... Hey a man can dream can't he?

Yeah the game 13 was a bitch for em. after that it takes about a week. This one took less than a week. it was actualy out and on less known sites being tested (some of those SF CD checks are damn hard to find). Like i told SF boy there, just give it a week and it will hit the main distro points. I was wrong it only took 3 days. FG you can stop now Ive personaly proven the disks them selves could be reproduced, and with SH being cracked (and its definatly not a SFless leak) the copy protection officaly busted. it has nothing to offer that safe disk cant give you, and at less expenss to legit gamers.

Gotta say however aside from the guys personal insults and the fact that he is completly wrong about SF on all counts he is really not all that bad. At least he is not posting horrid pics that i cant get out of my head, or actualy trying to be so insulting like the guy that got banned before Crowley (forgot his name damn it). Dont be mad at him use him for entertainment like i do. the guy has been keeping me smiling for the last 5 days.

I was registered on GG since 2000... And I agree. We were game fans, not hackers.

Exactly. I am the dream customer of the gaming industry. I have HL2, Sims2, KotoR2 purchased and sitting on my desk unplayed. (Blame WoW. :)) I am a professional who purchases games when they are released even when I don't have time to play them. I am also a professional software engineer. I am quite capable of cracking games... But I'm at the point where I have more money than time, so it's easier for me to just purchase the game.

Having said that, I will not purchase any game that has Starforce. A while back, I tried a demo that had Starforce. Not only did it 'break' my Nero CD burning software but when I was later doing some driver development on my home PC, I found Starforce actively interfering. I don't care what your protection scheme is... If I've already uninstalled that demo, it better not be active on my computer! I had to completely reinstall my OS to get rid of Starforce... Valuable gaming time wasted.

So I do actually check these threads to see if a game is coming out with Starforce. And if it is... I don't buy it. I could care less about pirating/hacking/etc.

Amen. Game execs are only tolerated because somebody has to bank roll my favorite devs, but I don't stay up at night worrying about how bloody much money they are making. To not speak out when corporate interests nakedly are to our detriment is merely simple minded and servile.
