Target Clearance Games: X2 The Threat, Lord of the Realms &a

Post by JonathanStrange »

Target has a few good clearance prices on:

X2 The Threat $6.98
Lords of the Realm III $9.98
Scrapland $9.98
NWN Hordes expansion $9.98

Prices vary (I've seen them for $3 or $4 more) at different Targets, so some of these prices may be "manager" specials or damaged boxes or whathaveyou.

I only got X2 myself because the other three games I might find for the same or less later - I think EB has LOTRIII for $10 already.

Thanks! I've been waiting for Scrapland to drop. Just picked it up today. Perfect price point for me.

I saw Joint Ops: Escalation at my Target for $19.98. I think I'll wait for the next drop and hope it's still there. They had a lot games on the rack, at least three shelves worth on an endcap. JO:E and Scrapland were the only ones that caught my eye though.

Anyone know if there's a pattern to when they put stuff on clearance and when they apply the price drops?

I stopped in Target today and decided to look for some of these deals you folks are always talking about. The only PC games they had was an aisle full of The Sims stuff, and a handful of HL2 ($60) and WoW (didn't check the price, not the least bit interested). Absolutely nothing on sale, and by the looks of it, nothing that would ever potetially be on sale.

Did you only look in the games aisle? The clearance rack is usually far from the regular priced items. I have a few Targets in my area. One has it in the music/movies area, another had it between electronics and sporting goods, another in housewares near the towels. They also move it around so you have to search for them. :?

Target "Clearance" defintely seems to vary by location.

Yes, the clearance PC games seem to generally be set apart from their regular priced PC games. I've usually found them on aisle endcaps, sometimes mixed with DVDs and music CDs.

There doesn't appear to be a predictable pattern as to which games will be on clearance and for how much.

I merely posted what I saw because I've saved $$$ in the past when someone else tipped us about a Target bargain.

Target just doesn't hawk their games section very much. You'll be plastered with the DVDs they have on sale, but you'll see nothing but console games in their sale sheet.

It's no wonder that just about everything winds up on the Clearance rack. Some of my Target purchases:

RTCW Plantinum: $5
Homeworld 2: $15
IWD Collection: $15
Hitman 2: $7
Spellforce: $7

It also doesn't help that the computer section appears abandoned with boxes and crap all over the place. I swear that the Target near my house (Pearland, TX) uses that area to store items they need to stock. I'm always having to move shopping carts full of crap ready to be placed on racks like books, DVDs, CDs, etc. all blocking the games. No respect, I tell you.
