Octopus Overlords

So, with my new Treo in my twisted, Mr. Burns-eque hands, I'm thinking about downloading some good Palm OS games.

Can anyone recommend any favorites? Back a few years ago when I had a Handspring I enjoyed that space trader game and a few low-graphic rpgs. Can anyone recommend some fun and addicting games, especially rpgs?

Anything by Crimson Fire.

Dragon Bane II

I have a Pocket PC but the games I'm recommending all have Palm versions as well.

Redshift's Legacy is a pretty cool, old-school RPG. It's a first-person party-based game similar to the old Wizardry/Might & Magic/Dragon Wars games. It's well supported and has several add-ons available as well. I got it for about $10 from Clickgamer.

The other is Arvale: Journey of Illusion. It takes itself much less seriously and is actually quite funny at times. It's a top-down one character RPG (a simple gardener is called on to save the world, blah blah blah). The graphics are sweet and the game system is very fun to play. It got it on sale from PDA Mill for $15 but it is regularly $20.

Both games have nice, full-featured demos available.

Now we know the real reason you got the new smartphone.

For RPGs, I'll add Aldon's Crossing. I haven't really played it yet, and the graphics aren't amazing, but it seems worth a look.

The other ones that I'd mention have already been noted: Arvale, Dragon Bane II, and Legacy.

Space Trader, free as always.

At the hard difficulty levels it's either you find the super duper gear on some early and pwn the AI or you get pwn3d yourself. Is the point of this game just to get a high score? Nope, though you can aim for that.

Right. It's randomized and minimally strategic, like improvised whistling on a sunny day.

Since I interrupted the thread without contributing to it...let me add a game I used to love on the PPC.

It was called 10 Pin Solitaire, you have to play it for a while to get the feel for it but me and some friends found it strangely addicting.

You can try looking them up on www.palmgear.com or www.handango.com, which should have a key to what specs you need. Most of the newer games should require OS5, but you may find older games (like the original Dragon Bane) that will run on older Palm OS versions.
