NCAA Tourney Brackets - On to the Sweet Sixteen!
I did a search and didn't see an existing OO tourney bracket thread. If someone else wanted to post one and I'm getting in the way, apologies. If not, join up! Password is oo2013cthulhu. Please use your forum name on your bracket so that it's obvious who's who.

Re: NCAA Tourney Brackets - 2013
I am curious what good teams failed to make the cut. I think Alabama missed out based on some late season losses.

7 of us have brackets going now. Woot.
I must say I was surprised so see my Illini get a #7 seed. They had some quality wins but also some awful losses. I was expecting 10-12.

I'm thinking about Miami. They have a lot of experience and a great backcourt. Ohio state is looking pretty good to me, too. I don't know the Louisville team at all. Anyone have any impressions of them?

I just auto-seeded with the popular picks to get it locked in. I'll go back in tonight and put in my upsets.

The CBS Sportsline bracket page is working - the one a lot of us have been using for a couple of years now. No idea who is running it or any of the details, though.

I decided to give it a shot this year, and surprisingly, I don't pick Michigan to win it all! (At least, not on this bracket. )
That's my purse! I don't know you!

Re: NCAA Tourney Brackets - 2013
Finished mine. I don't have enough upsets but then again I tried picking more upsets last year and it destroyed by bracket when it didn't happen. SO playing it a little safer this year.

I read an interesting article about how filling out a bracket (particularly when competing in an office pool) should be treated as a hedge fund. You shouldn't worry about picking all the correct games, but instead finding teams that are "bargains." A bargain is a team that few people pick, but has a relatively decent chance of pulling an upset. A couple of correct bargain picks will push you out to a lead vs getting a bunch of correct popular picks that everybody else also chose.
I didn't have the energy to research and do mine that way though, so yeah. Fail.

I used to put much more energy into my bracket analysis, now I just pick the results I'd like to see, to hell with the rest.YellowKing wrote:I read an interesting article about how filling out a bracket (particularly when competing in an office pool) should be treated as a hedge fund. Yeah, but Bucknell is keeping it close and Wichita is all tied up at 7 - so there is something to watch/constantly refresh for.

Bucknell still up on Butler. Hate to lose one of my sweet 16s during the first games of the tourney. Had Butler upsetting Marquette in the next round.
