Have all the teams enjoyed their winter break?

Emphasis on break. Crews are still working on repairs to team yellow's cars.Isgrimnur wrote:Have all the teams enjoyed their winter break?

How about a rolling start instead? Pole position would set the max gear on their first turn (up to 4th). It's not a regular Formula 1 rule, but if it makes the start of the game more fun, I'm for it.

So the person in pole position chooses 1st - 4th gear, and then everyone behind them can choose that gear or lower (so if the pole position chooses 3rd, everyone else chooses 1st - 3rd)?

Yeah, sounds more interesting than the usual 1st - 3rd crawl at the start of the game.
Still not as good as rocket launchers, though.

Looks like a pretty fast-paced map. I'm fine with a rolling start, or the ability to drop landmines (at will, we can already do it involuntarily by crashing our cars).

Awesome! I kind of like the rolling start. Although I can't see all the track. Apparently my iPad can't scroll the picture. Team yellow will rise to dominance once again!

Re: Formula D League Race 4: Buddh, India
I believe we've received word from all participants.
Individual standings after Race 3 were:
1) Isgrimnur - 18 points
1) NickAragua - 18 points
3) El Guapo - 16 points
4) bb2112 - 15 points
5) coopasonic - 14 points
6) hentzau - 13 points
Starting grid will be in reverse order. I get the back of the grid due to winning the previous race.
Forecast calls for sun, sun, sun.
I need tire choice and car setups.

Soft tires, of course.
5/7/2/2/2/2 will do, I believe. A brake-heavy loadout may be beneficial with soft tires (to negate a few more rolls that are a little too high), but we'll see.

Re: Formula D League Race 4: Buddh, India
Proposed maneuvering rule: Debris Visibility
Debris is 'visible' from five spaces away on any straightaway, barring turn borders. Any movements initiated outside of that range will have the full movement available.
Ex 1. On a straightaway, there is a piece of debris in the right lane on space 10 . A car starting on space 4 or before in any lane would be unable to 'see' the piece and would be allowed to make a move into the debris lane, then perform an evasive move to avoid it. If a car were starting on space 8 in the center or left lane, if they entered the right lane prior to space 10, this would be treated as a deliberate move and be required to drive over the debris space.
Ex 2. On a straightaway, there is a piece of debris in the right lane in space 3. There are no restrictions in exiting the turn, as the arrows take precedence. If the driver exits the turn in the right lane, he can take an evasive move to avoid it. If a driver exits the turn in the left or center lanes and enters the right lane prior to space 3, this would be treated as a deliberate move and be required to drive over the debris space.

I think it's an overengineered solution for a problem that doesn't really exist. It is bound to cause confusion. I would focus on implementing my in-race combat rule.Isgrimnur wrote:Proposed maneuvering rule: Debris Visibility

Re: Formula D League Race 4: Buddh, India
There were questions last race about maneuvering when coming out of a turn and weaving decisions, so it is a problem that has come up.

Just went back to look and see what my build was in the last game, because I really liked it, but now I'm stymied by the great OO data loss.
I'll have to review the rules. Back in a bit.

What's with the 18-point builds? Both you and Nick are two short of a full build. Nitrous is one-per, and does not count against the 20-point total.

I went off of the stats on the race page link you posted above, and just manipulated the existing points. When you posted the previous race link, the numbers were different.Isgrimnur wrote:What's with the 18-point builds? Both you and Nick are two short of a full build. Re: Formula D League Race 4: Buddh, India
I think for maneuvering that debris should, for the most part, be treated like a car. I.e. as part of a move on a straightaway you can't maneuver into a position that forces you to then take evasive maneuvers. Except that with the debris you have the option of moving into the lane and running over the debris.Isgrimnur wrote:Proposed maneuvering rule: Debris Visibility

If that makes sense. The rule makes some intuitive sense, but the maneuvering rule doesn't really match that well with reality anyhow (like, the exact same maneuvering is legal on a straightaway if done as part of two moves but not if part of one), so really this is just a straight game mechanic that doesn't match with reality anyhow.

Can we get a gear chart added to the race graphic? I'll go out and see if I can't find it in the meantime.
