DinoGenics board game
DinoGenics is now live on Kickstarter!
So this is a bit of self-promotion. The board game I’ve been working on for about two years has passed through the play testing phase and now is set for a launch on Kickstarter in early June.
Now I’m a bit stuck on how to promote it! At this point I have setup a Facebook page and have also written a short game-play preview on BoardGameGeek. If anyone is so inclined I would appreciate any likes or shares you feel like making. I really hope to build a bit of a community before this goes live on KS.
Questions and feedback is of course welcome.
--edit--
Oh, I should probably tell you what the game is like!
DinoGenics is a worker placement game where three to five players compete to create the best dinosaur park. Players take turns deploying Workers to areas of the Mainland where they will collect various resources to enhance their individual parks. Dinosaurs are constructed by collecting sets of matching DNA and exchanging them for dinosaur meeples at the DinoGenics research facility. These dinosaurs must be penned and properly fed each season or you risk having them rampage and kill your visitors.
At the end of six rounds, the park with the most victory points is deemed the winner and acquires enough money and prestige to buy out his or her competitors.

I read the BGG preview and it sounds interesting (which is saying something coming from me on a worker placement game). I am an ameritrash kinda guy, but I guess the theme calls to me a bit. I'm thinking I could get my son to play this with me. He plays a Jurassic World game on his tablet that has some similar elements, but includes dino fighting as well.
I'm definitely interested in learning more about it.

Re: DinoGenics board game
Theme is something that is very important to me in games and I wanted to make sure this wasn't just another cube pusher/point salad worker placement game. Not that I have anything against those sorts of games necessarily, I actually like quite a few of them. With Dinogenics, you can play it perfectly safe, at which point is is closer to a traditional euro but the game opens up when you are willing to take a few chances.coopasonic wrote:I read the BGG preview and it sounds interesting (which is saying something coming from me on a worker placement game). A large thematic element (and this is done a bit tongue in cheek) is that the corporations you play as are fairly corrupt. Each dinosaur has specific requirement to keep it happy but nothing in the game requires that you actually fulfill those requirements. A good example of this is the Pterodactyl. This is one of the most valuable dinosaurs in the game but it requires meat (a secondary resource) and can fly so it requires a special facility to house. If you choose to ignore those requirements the result is that it will fly around each turn, possibly eating people or wrecking other buildings. But there are facilities you can purchase that mitigates these dangers. If your visitors do get eaten you end up with Scandal Tokens, but again there are ways to make these go away if you are willing to spend the resources. In this way, it's a bit risk/reward. Safe parks are reliable, dangerous parks are exciting.

Awesome!
Any way to see what the stretch goals are past $36.5K? I see a $42K faintly listed as a stretch goal but can't see any details under that number.

Re: DinoGenics board game
A lot of the early items are quality of life improvements. Double layered player boards (think Scythe) is the current goal you can’t see fully. After that we have language translations then a bunch of item upgrades, better cardstock, upgrade cardboard to wood tokens, that sort of thing. All of those are completely planned out with the manufacturer so I know exactly what they cost to produce.Ralph-Wiggum wrote:Awesome!

After that, we hit life changing money and I have a second list of goals that I've run past the manufacturer but are big enough that I will need some more time to plan.

I look forward to seeing coop play it without me on the rare occasions that I see him at DGM.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Achievement Unlocked, engraved dice. Which is good. I'm not a fan of decalled dice. Very close to Double layered Visitor Track, which sounds like a quality upgrade.

Concur. I'm not even backing it (sorry! Not that I don't want it; just that my realistic board gaming time is low and my backlog is high!), and I'm still glued to the KS to see how far it goes.LordMortis wrote:50k and counting! I feel good on your behalf.

Honestly, very little promotion. The big differences were a better box image and lower prices. The rest seemed to happen on its own.Archinerd wrote:Lordnine, if you get a chance at some point I'm curious how you went about promoting it this time. What worked, what didn't.
