EB trade ins

Post by Vinda-Lou »

I know I've bashed EB in the past, but holy shit do I want a PSP. Any ideas how much they give in credit for older pc games, newer/older cds, and dvd box sets of things like Buffy and Angel? I might just go and unload a crate-full or two of my stuff. I'm really torn though, I feel like I'm selling my soul by giving away my older classics for dollars and cents. I don't know if I'd follow through with it, but has anyone tried trading in stuff like this?

Generally, TV season sets have an incredibly low trade-in value. Consequently, the used prices are pretty low too, but I wouldn't unload any DVD sets at EB. You'll do much better selling them here or on Ebay.
I can't imagine, even at my most inebriated, hearing a bouncer offering me an hour with a stripper for only $1,400 and thinking That sounds like a reasonable idea.-Two Sheds

They give basically nothing. Older PC games might go for a couple of dollars if they even buy them at all. I imagine you'd have far better luck making money if you sold your stuff on Ebay.

I traded in NCAA Football 2005 last year because, frankly, nobody else wanted to buy it and I figured I might as well get something for it. One month after release, when the game was essentially still new and selling for $50, they gave me $17 for it.

I dont have the money for Jade empire so i have been to EB gamestop and hastings today in an effort to trade in 7 games for credit. The 3 trade in places where i live offered me these prices.

Hastings:books and music: $16.45
EBGames: 32.95
Gamespot: 75.54

Al instore credit of course. Guess who i went with? If you are gonna be trying to round up the money for a PSP you better hit gamestop. Its worth noting that on my recipt it says each of these games had thier value increased by X ammount. Different ammounts for each game. They eneded up actualy giving me more money for Yourself Total Fitness than i payed for it lol. Anyway here are the games and the price Gamestop gave me for each.

Dave Mirra 2 (3.42)
Full spectrum warrior (8.34)
Panzer dragon Orta (9.34)
Your self total fitness (16.50)
D&D heros (11.34)
Dead or Alive Beach Vollyball (11.34)
Gauntlent Dark Legacy (13.34)

When confronted with offensive TV, the fundamental differences between the Conservative and liberal factions becomes blatantly obvious. Conservatives will piss and moan, then file a complaint with the FCC in an attempt to make sure the offending show is never seen by anyone. Liberals... well we just change the damn channel.

Go with ebay and trade in what doesn't sell in auction. You'll get a lot more money that way.

OT: I don't get this PSP mania - well sure if you want portable gaming it's an obvious choice - but I get the feeling that some people want one just because it's a PSP...not as a replacement for a GBA or whatever. The games don't see to be that great for it, and usually i'm an "early adopter" when it comes to techie stuff, especially video game systems (pocketbook allowing naturally). What's the big deal with the PSP?

Ah of course! That's the first application of any new technology right? So should I be um, grossed out if I see someone take their PSP into the can...

I wouldn't be grossed out...I just wouldn't touch their PSP again :) Now if they wanted to copy the contents of their memory stick I might allow that...

I traded in 3 old Xbox games when I got my copy of Jade Empire at Gamestop because they had a deal where if you trade in 3 games you get a $10 bonus credit. It sounds like Attadude got in on that bonus trade-in deal as well (my receipt also says "value increased by $#.##" for the trades, adding up to the extra 10 bucks). I'm not sure how long that deal is running, though.

Unlike EB's infamous exclusion list, my understanding is that Gamestop will take almost any game except for outdated sports titles, but I can't completely confirm that. They took my games no problem (Max Payne, Robotech Battlecry, Mechassault).

Gamestop has been running the bonus $10 for every 3 games traded in for quite some time. I remember getting this deal about a year ago and I just got it recently as well. The only edge EB Games has is that they take PC games. But they give such crappy credit that I don't bother. Several months I had a virtual yard sale here and let everyone else reap the savings.

Thanks for the advice. I guess those reasons listed above are why I felt like "giving away" my swag to EB is like selling my soul to them. I would smack myself for giving away Wing Commander III for $.50!

Marginally on track -- I went by an EB yesterday to see what they had for used games and there was a lot more PC stuff than I expected.

It all looked like a car backed over it and there was nothing good anyway, bit still...
