MMORPG Levels in Relation to Life

As I was driving home from Taco Bell, it suddenly hit me that my level in EQ2 was eerily mirroring my life.

At levels (ages) 1-9 I was just starting to get a feel for the world. I was weak, didn't know much about what I was doing. I had to have people that were higher level than me give me stuff because I had no money.

At levels 10-19 I had a pretty good time. I was learning more about how to play my character, though I had not yet started a career. This was pretty much the time when I had very little responsibility and could more or less goof off. I wished I was bigger to do the REALLY fun stuff, though.

At levels 20-29 I started settling into my class. I knew what I was going to do and started working at it. This is also the time where I started making better money. These levels flew by, but I had a lot of fun.

About this point in MMORPGs is where I start looking into rolling up an alt. Then I thought, this is about the point in my life where I'm starting to look into rolling up some children!

The level cap in EQ2 is 50, so I assume that's the age in which I can expect that you've pretty much done all you're going to do, so you sit back and have fun with your alts or just take it easy. Eventually they'll either raise the level cap and you'll keep trucking a few more years, or you'll delete your account. :)

I get mocked in IRC for being about the biggest geek in there.

Even *I* never came up with this. Shame on you sir. Shame. Go play a game that does not have any mention of "Leveling up" or "DPS." I recommend Ice Hockey.

P.S. Just to make sure, you do realise my post is very much in jest. As I assume yours was. At least... I hope.

Funny - I can easily visualize a hockey game that involves DPS.

Does that mean I'll be eligible to buy my horse in five more years? Running twenty miles back and forth to work every day is so tiring.

Depends how you define ass kicking; it can be done in many modern way, just not in sex :)

I'm 30+ and I totally know how to gank newbs - but I just can't do it. I try to help them out when they're having problems rather than screw them.

Ha, I guess that works on more than two levels! Oy!
