I was uninstalling some games off my hard drive when I noticed a few old games that I remember enjoying a ton so I've given them another go.
Star Wars Rebellion: Most people disliked it, mostly because of the sheer scale (plus some bugs) but there was a mod community that gave a ton of time to improving this game. Anyways, ol' Computer Games Mag. loved it. http://www.cdmag.com/articles/011/043/r ... eview.html
Warzone 2100: Best Camera controls for a 3d RTS I've ever used. Plus customizable units and plenty of LAN fun against my buddies.
What are your old favorites you still play that others probably long forgot?
Dungeon Keeper 2 gets a go every few months, same with Settlers 3. Some of the older games I keep going back to are a bit bigger names - Civilization 2 for example - or just aren't that old, such as Tropico.
Heroes of Might & Magic 3: Shadow of Death + Armageddon's Blade extension. Permanently installed on my HD along with a CD image I can mount, so I don't need to search for the CD.
I love the games Pharao, Tropico, Rolercoaster Tycoon 1, Empire Earth (not so old), black and white and of course counter strike, but I guess that one doest count for this thread
I'm replaying the Tropico 2 campaign. I also intend to finish the Baldurs Gate 2 expansion, and give GalCiv another go, before returning to Civ3 Rise&Rule. (I need a new video card.)
Anyone recall a game named Bioforge? It came out around the time of Full Throttle.
Seeing as it is a Dos game it's difficult to load it these days, but it kept me challenged for several months.
Ryde..

Populous: The Beginning An old title, not really underrated, but now mostly forgotten. You play as a virtual God over these weird little dudes who are your disciples. That's cool.
Plus it's got a full colon : in the title and I like :
Nemesis of the Roman Empire Not an old title and its mediocre rating is probably deserved, but I liked its historical theme, simplicity, gameplay twists, absence of resource gathering and graphics. The gameplay has a supply convoy system that forces you to establish supply routes to keep your armies from starving and makes one play aggressively, raiding the enemies convoys and protecting friendlies.
What I like in particular about both these games is that I don't feel the need to play them at max efficiency.
Ever stop playing a game because it begins to seem that you've got to know all the subtleties, performance tweaks, unit stats, resource secrets in order to play them? Well these two games I just start playing while others argue whether their Pretender God should cast Arcane Spell 78 or Mumbo Jumbo Spell #909.
Different games for different moods.

OT-I like your avatar, JSHAW, but I wonder if it will impress the ladies?
The reason behind the avatar? Last week there was a thread by Matrix about his ability to give love advice, he didn't like my negativity, and resorted to calling me "JAWS", so I took that and ran with it. If you can't beat em', join em'.
Total Annihilation and Neverwinter Nights (+addons) are the oldest on my system. Both definatly not underrated. Warzone 2100 brings up memories. Besides it's bald maps I had quite a lot of (coop-)fun. Techtree was awesome, but still managable. It must have sold badly, I wonder why there never had been a sequel.
I just got Requiem Avenging Angel working in XP. It is without a doubt dated, but somewhat fun nonetheless. This game came out just when the Matrix came out, so the "bullet time" angel power in the game was even more fun. It's a by the number shooter, but the mix of powers and guns move it a notch higher. I love the "turn to salt" power!
Freespace 1 and 2
Homeworld Cataclysim
Hostile Waters Anteaus Rising
Rune
Blade of Darkness
Myth 2
Drakan
Halls of the Dead
Tachyon
Dark Stone
Subculture
Emperor Battle for Dune
-just to name a few
I still have Tropico and Startopia on my computer. I play them whenever I feel my gaming has gotten a bit stale and I'm looking for some personality, humor, and just plain fun.
None at present as I've been trying to down my backlog by focusing on one game at a time until it is completed.
Some goodies in that backlog, however, do include:
Populous:The Beginning
Anteus Rising
Sacrifice
Twinsen's Odyssey
Descent: Freespace
Blade of Darkness
Myth (1,2,3)
Drakan
Rune
Nemesis of the Roman Empire
And dammit, I am one of two people on Amazon who gave "Revolution" (the Activision FPS in an orange box (or at least there was orange on the box somewhere) from a couple years ago) a favorable review. Still fire it up from time to time.

I'm still playing and will always be playing Grand Prix Legends. I also play Powerslide and Re-Volt quite often. The original Unreal Tournament will never be removed from my hard drive. Once a year a load up Thief: The Dark Project.
Fantasy Empires. I'll load this up once a year. Thank you DOSbox for now making it possible to play w/o hooking up an old computer.
Colonization for Windows. Two to three times a year. I love this game. I love the music.
Birthright. You have to give your guy teleport so that you don't get stuck when doing the rather buggy adventure portion of this strategy/rpg hybrid, but I have a lot of fun with this game. Once a year.
Omniplay basketball. Pretty old game, late 80s I believe. I play it via an amiga emulator. A fun basketball simulator. Once a year.
Roadwar 2k. I'll play usually via an atari emulator, though I do have the pc version. It just looks better on the emulator. You run a gang in post-apoc america, trying to gather up scientists. Once a year.
Autoduel. Very fun post-apoc centered around you and your vehicle. Another old RPG. Once a year.
I'm not sure which of the last three is the oldest, but I'm pretty sure they're all late 80s titles.
The Operational Art of War - Both versions
Star Trek: Starfleet Command
Panzer General II - I have to slow my system down to run it.
Allied General - Same as above
Max Payne - The 1st one
R.E. Lee (Civil War Generals) - Runs like shit but still fun.
I have Dungeon Keeper II installed atm. I recently re-installed MoO2. I didn't like it too much when it came out, but I've been giving it another chance.
i just reinstalled Jagged Alliance 2 and my mercs and i have just conquered Drassen and are now training up the local militia for the inevitable counter attack. next up is the northeastern SAM site, after which, my soldiers will gain airborne capabilities.
