Rare and Hard to Find Games

I have heard ALIEN CROSSFIRE, REZ, THE GUY GAME (1 VERSION) are very hard to come by, and often go for high prices on Ebay. Anyone know of some other "collectible" games like these, that are worth some money?

I've had Alien Crossfire twice. I think I've traded it away here for 'just another game' twice. Ah well.

A friend of mine in work has an original boxed, still-working Amiga version of Great Giana Sisters. We reckon that's gotta be worth something to a collector these days.

The Freespace 2: Space Sim of the Year Edition used to be relatively pricey, but I'm not sure that's still true.

Alien Crossfire was pretty much devalued when they re-released it in the Wal-Mart combo pack last year.

Wing Commander stuff in general can go all over the place. I sold a copy of WC3 for $30-ish a couple of months ago, and a month later sold another one for $10.

Others:
WC: Prophecy Gold (even though the "Gold" add-on stuff can be downloaded since it was a free expansion from Origin)
HOMM4 expansion packs
Ultima Collection

* I also just noticed something called "Infocom's Classic Text Adventure Masterpieces" sold for over $200 recently.

It still is. Used copies can go for a hundred bucks (add another $80 for a new copy).

Other games worth digging around the bargain bins for:

Final Fantasy VII (PC version)
Star Trek Bridge Commander
Starfleet Command 3

For SNES, I know that Chrono Trigger goes for about 50 still, and Mega Man X 3 goes for around $60.

Interesting. I have a copy on my shelf that I have been planning to get rid of.

I finally gave up trying to score a copy years ago when I watched one auction on eBay for a sealed new boxed copy climb to $580. That was way above the norm (I think it was around the year 2000 and the average for a new copy was $300 then). I haven't checked in so long now, I have no idea what they're going for lately.

And I've since lost the extreme desire I once had to own it. Sure, it'd be great, but it ain't worth the stress of auction-monitoring for months at a time and researching sellers. I've never spent more than $100 on eBay for anything because of the risk factor. If I did, I'd lose sleep every night until my item arrived, and then you have to wonder if it's in good shape, etc. Hmm. I'm slipping into a derail...sorry.

I was unemployed for 6 months a few years ago, so to make a bit of money I turned to selling off some of my games I'd doubled up on over the years.

A while back, I sold a new CD version of MS Space Sim for $145 on eBay. They were hard to find for a while. Last time I checked, you could get one there for around $20.

Battlezone Gold: Sold one for $76 a couple years ago.

Apollo 18: 1996 version 2 CDs: Bought 3 copies for $5 each at walmart and sold them on eBay for around $40 each.

Some guy emailed me a few years ago out of the blue wondering if I had a copy of European Air War. I sold him my only copy (the one I'd been playing) for $65. I figured it'd be easy to find another one to replace it--I figured he just hadn't been looking hard enough. I ended up spending 6 months searching and $45 replacing the damn thing. THEN they re-issued it for like $10 or something...

Me either..And me too!

And apparently Veloxi is right. A visit to eBay's past auctions shows Bridge Commander fetching roughly $65.

Couldn't even find X-Com Collector's Edition there. Though Amazon Shops has some used ones for around $100.

I'll doubtlessly keep mine until they're worthless though. Otherwise I'll just want to buy them back again.

All of the Star Trek PC Games are uber expensive and hard to find.. (Like ST Armada and ST Armada 2) Generally i've seen them sell for up to $300+ a copy.

Battle Realms Complete is nearly impossible to find, and if you do, it generally costs $50-100 a copy.

Well...crap. I've had all three of these games (BC decent, both armada's were utter crap) in my collection at some point, and all three were probably traded to EB for $2 a piece or something. Rats.

This is a valuable thread... someone should start a valuable games thread and make it permanent so we can check before we trade em in for whatever the new hotness is at the moment.

I sold my original boxed copies of Ultima V and Ultima VI (on 5 1/4" disks) a couple of years ago for around $50 each. I have a whole box in the basement full of original boxed copies of games from around 1988-1992. I ought to go through those.

I have an unopened Rez for PS2. Got it pretty cheap when it was on sale. I considered selling it when its eBay price was pretty high, but my laziness factored in, and I still have it. Actually, I can't even find it around any more. When we moved out of a house to a tiny Manhattan apartment last year, I put most of my games in a box and put them in a rented storage. Bad decision, I guess. :(

I may have a brand new sealed copy of Armada 2. I wonder what that would fetch? Used ones seem to be going for around $40 on e-bay

I picked FF7 up for about $4.00 at a local secondhand bookstore here in Tucson.

I have a few of the Star Trek games here that I just didn't like to much, so they're just sitting here. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to seeing what they're worth. One game I can't find that I got the urge to play lately is The Journeyman Project, but can't find it anywhere anymore, of course, it is really old. I do have the two sequels, just not the original.

Star Trek Armada doesn't seem to be doing to well on ebay right now. Bridge Commander is. I wish I hadn't thrown away the box.

Whoa. I felt stupid for purchasing the 20th Anniversary Edition directly from Interplay, but now I don't feel so bad. It's even numbered.
