Tried my first Wordle today and failed, missing my final guess hy one letter. Cool idea, definitely bookmarked.
A little surprised they don’t have Wordscapes on the alternatives list. It’s been my daily word game fix on iPhone for a couple years now. I’m almost through all 6,000 levels of the regular game currently on 5,240), and have done the daily puzzle every day for ages.
When darkness veils the world, four Warriors of Light shall come.
And in banks across the world
Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Jews
And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The raccoon and the groundhog neatly
Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range

I'm unclear how "HARD" mode makes it any harder. At least the way I played (granted, one game), "Any revealed hints must be used in subsequent guesses"....I mean, why would you NOT use a hint in subsequent guesses? To maximise letter "coverage"? I guess people doing that care more for just always getting the word, as opposed to getting it in as few guesses as possible.

I dunno, I lost today with half the letters untested, mostly due to keeping green letters in place and juggling yellow letters around. Also, if you have have starting strategy of two words to cover 10 letters, that is blown away by any success in the first word. I am debating starting with
youse
train
over the next few days to see how that works out for the way my brain puts words together. (Yes, it accepts youse as a word)

Getting letter coverage can do both though. ADIEU and CLOTS covers 10 of the 12 most used letters (which are, in order, E A R I O T N S L C U D).

Question about Archi's spoiler
Spoiler:
I've been trying to understand how double letters present. If there were two O and one was in the wrong position would it have been
Grey Yellow Grey Green Green for DONOR?
Yes
Spoiler:
Yeah, I knew FLOOR was not correct, since it had two O's, but I was hoping to get a clue on some of the other letters because I couldn't think of any other word to use.

Wordle 207 4/6
Spoiler:
TEARS
CHOIL
MAYOR FAVOR
I'll bite. What is choil?
It's the unsharpened end of a knife's cutting edge that's nearer to the handle, e.g.
I typically start with TEARS & CHOIL because they include many of the most commonly-used letters in English, along with the plural, plenty of vowels, and the 'ch' letter pairing. It hasn't steered me wrong yet.

I don't have a standard opening, but I like to start with some mix of the most common consonants -- R, S, T, and N, P, or H. So a word like PRINT or STRAP checks my boxes (and hopefully turns some green). Vowels are easier to fill in when you have a couple of consonants in the right places.

Ah, I understand. When I used to watch Forged in Fire, they always used the term Ricasso. I wonder if there's any difference.
Today's almost broke me. Knew where two letters were but for the life of me could not figure out any words that fit with the letters I had remaining. I had to go through a very long process of elimination until I got it on my 5th try.
Playing on Hard mode and was struggling to even find words after the third guess.

I love the fact that Wordle just one word a day. It gives me something to look forward to, but doesn't become a grind. Today's was hard.

this game is ok, but what's the point of this thread? there's really not much to discuss about it, other than 'how few turns i solved it' bragging
Did you miss the YOUSE and CHOISE posts above? I also made a PRETTY MEATY comment about the "hard" option. Do you not feel the gushing pride, and abject depression when fellow members get the word in a few tries, and not at all? WAKE UP MAN!!!! Shit, just look at today's alone...this puzzle, and I quote "ALMOST BROKE" one of your fellow OO'ers. It ALMOST BROKE HIM. AS A MAN, AS A PERSON. Have some empathy!
